We've been trying out a church service meant for the kids since I started taking Max with me to church (post his morning naps period). Max just can not sit still in church and I have given up the fight. So usually Ellie will go to Sunday school while Max and I put around the town for an hour. Then the three of us having been enjoying this 20-30 minute service with lots of songs where the kids can move around and the pastor tries to teach the sermon in very basic terms.
Unfortunately the sermon is still usually well beyond Max's comprehension. However, today, it was right on target. Today was about the animals got has given us and how he wants us to love and take care of them. The guest teacher runs the preschool there and knows how to keep kids attention. She had a bag full of animals and as she pulled them out the kids were to say the sounds they make. Max stood there anticipating the reveal of each animal. He dutifully got into making the sounds and participating. I was really proud to see him enjoying this. It was as if he was also proud of himself in the opportunity to participate in what everyone else was paying attention too. It was a great service!
After the service the kids get a chance to have a snack and play together. Here's Max with a Duck that he could barely life up! Isn't he such a cutie :-). Mommy is biased.
