The drama of the chore chart

I recently created a new chore chart that we have used for almost a week now. I have to get these kids doing more around the house. That’s a goal. The chores are really responsibilities in most cases with some help in the main areas of the house picking up after themselves and vacuuming. That’s it.

Max has approached this like a champ. Each day he completes his chores diligently and proudly. He does great when he know expectations and has an easy way to remember them and meet them. I’m really proud of him

Clair hasn’t basically paid it much attention at all. She could care less. I admit she’s a bit young and I haven’t figured out a good way to get her into it.

Ellie hates this. She thinks this chore chart is the end of the world. She was so upset when she asked if they would ever get a day off and I responded with , “do I ever get a day off?”  Her response in an irritated voice, “so this is what it’s like to be you?!?”

Another complaint,”we will never have time to play with friends again!”  Because the list is so long.

Boy this girl likes to be lost in her own thing, in her own time, at her own pace.

I must not give up. My goal is to keel this going. We’ll see.
