In the still of the night

Somewhere between midnight and the morning light, I hear the Pitter patter of little feet approaching as I lie peacefully in bed. I stop, I lay still, and I think she just going to the bathroom or is she coming in, the bed that is. More often than not even if she has to go to the bathroom she’s coming to try to get into my bed and snuggle, I mean pressed up against me until she pushes me out of the bed while she sleeps peacefully in her favorite place, right beside her mama.

Last night, she comes up the side me or use her head on me with her Blankey in hand and says “I am empty of love mommy!“ I replied with something along the lines of, “lay here and I will kiss you 10 times and refill you with love and you were going back to your bed!“ Said in stern voice.

After a few hugs and lots of kisses, the pitter patter of little feet on the floor returned in the other direction back to her bed and she slept all night long.

I have such Mixed opinions about these visits. Sure, they are cute as can be. Sure, I love her cuddles and I love that she loves to snuggle me. But, I don’t sleep well when she’s beside me. And, I want to good night sleep because I think it makes me a better mom and a better person. I hope one day she will understand.

Max prevails in his first street soccer tournament

This weekend maxes soccer team did games differently. They ran something called a street soccer tournament. We really had no idea what to expect. The kid showed up and played new short pick up games with different boys every 15 minutes. They played a total of six games in two hours. It was exhausting for them.

The way the scoring worked was to add up individual totals for their teams for each of the six games and then see which boys came out on top. Max was ranked four out of the 70 boys there. We were so proud of him when he got the award. The award was just a little soccerball, but the pride that came with being acknowledged for his hard work and effort is priceless. I’m so proud of him. I’m so happy for him getting some recognition for the hard work he’s been putting into soccer this year. It was his idea to move to the new team and work harder at soccer. He’s proving to keep up his end of the bargain which is to work hard.

Take your kids to work day 2019 is a success

This event was by far the best organized and most interesting at my work yet. It was also Clair’s first time going. Boy was she tickled pink to spend the day with me. She would do anything to have that extra time together. I love that about her.

We managed to do 4 planned sessions, complete a scavenger hunt, look at lung cells under a microscope, play in the game room and spend time in a team room where they could draw on the white board while I checke emails. We had a someone healthy lunch in the cafe. There wasn’t any crying and minimal fighting! I was nearly proud!

The four sessions were interesting:
1-how we cure cancer
2-how we distribute medicine around the world to patients
3- how to make rock candy
4- what is the flu and how do we fight it

What a great day!

And if they weren’t tired after that, they surely were tired after Clair’s birthday party at pump it up this evening! What an exciting and full day for all.

Ellie is great with kids

Ellie is so good with kids. She enjoyed them and is great at playing with them and helping them. I have seen her grow in this area a lot this year. It started with Cole at the school. Tonight I saw it again with a neighborhood friend of Clair’s - Avery - and Luca P. She spent most of Clair’s birthday party at pump it up between the two of them. I love seeing this side of her. It makes my heart smile. She is truly happy!

Clair turns 6!

Clair’s birthday pretty much went perfectly according to her plan. This is good news for everyone.

She woke at 7 and came to snuggle! She watched TV in bed and then we had the requested breakfast- mommy’s homemade French toast. I dropped her off at school and watched her excitedly go into the building and begin telling everyone she saw it was her birthday!

I arrived dutifully as instructed at lunch bearing a happy meal with said sides. We eat lunch together with her friends and snuggled. She then request I join her for recess and still have time to complete assigned tasks at home such as balloon fetching and cake baking. So I did! We played soccer.

After school I prepared the home made lasagne as per request! We then allowed time for present opening under the birthday tree, followed by playing with toys and cake at the end of the night. She said it was a perfect day as I snuggled her while she fell asleep in my arms!

All 5 of us sat around and watched this thing peck away and hatch itself.
