First Day in a new country

Today the kids slept until around 9am local time. I must say, I had a hard time keeping track of the clock today.

They did reletively well. We were able to get them all the regularly scheduled naps and meals. My hope is that by doing this, they will be more on local time tomorrow.

By late morning you could see the smiles on Maxs face returning to normal. By late afternoon, Ellie was appearing more happy and energetic too.

Daddy and Ellie are practicing for a photo contest here!

We didn't really do all that much except walk around, do a little shopping, see a few sights and Ellie got to play with Grampa while Max and Mommy napped this morning. It was a relaxing day, but great to get them onto the right timezone.

Daddy and Grampa took care of errands while Mommy and the kids napped this afternoon. We have a pack and play for Max to sleep in tonight (which he is currently rejecting as loudly as he can...).

Oxford is really cute. Bob took us through some back alleyways I would've never explored on my own. We managed to make our way even with the stroller. Max spent some time in the Baby Ergo. When I was here 10 years ago, I don't think I appreciated the beauty and uniquenes of this place as much as I was able to today. I look forward to seeing more over the next few days.

The highlight of the day for me was taking them to dinner in a pub. They were both champs. No scenes. Just good little kids enjoying an evening out with their parents. It is something about the life in the US I wish was considered normal. We were out of the pub before 8pm (reasonable time for kids just adjusting to the timezone). We had them bathed and in bed before 9. They were so good. The best part for me was watching them have fun, playing with them - Ellie drawing, Max just enjoying playing with my face and making noises, while I got to enjoy 2 pints of a nice English cider. It was a relaxing night.

Nope, didn't let him try his first cider... becuase it's not Bulmers!

Mommy was excited to see one of these old fashion English phone booths, so we got a family shot.

Daddy carried sleeping Max home becuase Ellie needed the stroller.

Again, good job kids! Love you both very much. Thanks for letting Mommy enjoy her cider while watching you both smile. That makes it even better!
