Tuesday was the third visit to the beach. It was questionable if we would make it, as Ellie woke up and announced "I am too coffeey to go to the beach today Mommy." After a few hours trying to figure out what was really wrong, she told Daddy on the phone she didn't want to go to the beack without him. So we think that was really the issue.
I promised to try to make her a castle like Daddy, so she agreed we could all go. It was nice becuase Max wasn't quite as fussy and Mom and Katie were able to watch him some to allow Ellie and I to have some time to jump waves and play at the Ocean's edge together. I think we both enjoyed this time and surely needed it.
Max called for me often and I finally had to let Ellie go back to playing with the others while watching Max. I tried to distract him by pointing out a dog about a block away.He loves dogs so much that he was determined to walk down and see him. So, off we went. That boy persisted through many falls and wobbles and even water on him to get to the cute dog called Leon. We played with Leon for about 15 minutes. His owners were really nice. They have a 9 and 7 year old so they and Leon were really good with Max. He was happy trying to through Leon's ball to him (going all of 10-15 inches). Sometimes, he just handed it to Leon, who was really gentle to Max.
Thanks to Leon, I think Max started to appreciate playing in the sand a bit. He even returned back to our camp and choose to sit peacefully while digging in the sand for about 10-15 minutes. During this time we were attempting to play a little frisbee with the big girls and start to pack up to head back to our poolside condo for a rinse.
It was definitely the best morning at the beach so far!
