Going to the beach for the week

Sunday I left home with Ellie and Max for the week at the beach in Fenwick Island, DE. David couldn't come becuase he has to work part of the week. Upon arrival, I was the only one who felt a strong need to get to the beach, so I braved taking both my kids alone. The reason this was a brave adventure is becuase we had to cross route 1 to get to the beach. Anyway, I was deteremined.

With a few challenges, we finally got up there around 6:45pm. I sat Max down on a dry sand dune to help Ellie get out of her coverup. This is what Max thought of the beach - the whole thing:

Ellie on the other hand was generally happy to have arrived. She was a bit skeptical not to have Daddy holding her hands, but we persisted:

We played on the beach edge for about 10-15 minutes. Max demanded holding the whole time. He totally freaked when he touched the water and when each wave came inland, he turned his head into my shoulder and squealed from fear. I was a little annoyed and felt a little bad for him too. We hung out for a few minutes and then headed back to the house. I said I wouldn't be doing this again alone.

I was happy to make it to the beach and look forward to a week here - and Daddy's arrival! Need a 1 to 1 ratio when kids are this young!

Everyone of us was happy when Mommy finally got that wagon full of little ones back across highway route 1 and into our condo garage... tired kiddies.
