Well, the last minute decision to take this road-trip was exciting to me. I feel like I don't do enough with the kids to let them experience the world I love and help them see there is more to life then work and chores. So, this trip was a bit of a proving ground, or supposed to be.
The trip up started out dicey in traffic, but ended with a smooth arrival in NYC around 11 pm. We were settled in for sleep around midnight with a very tired two year old and excited five year old.
Saturday morning after breakfast near grand central, we headed up to the old hood to enjoy a couple activities I really wanted to share with the kids - children's museum, a special park, and a fancy treat shop. The morning was tiring but very successful. Ellie has decided if we buy a house here, she will gladly move because its the best neighborhood ever. I didn't even have to bribe her to say this!
Te highlight for max had to be the trains and the bus. Seeing the workings of the city an all the cranes and diggers was really eye opening for him. I loved watching his face as he experienced these things for the first time.
We made it back to the hotel for naps because they just could not go without- even though I thought we'd try. This is the first time Ellie has asked for nap time I'm over a year.
After naps we had dinner In an Irish pub and took the kids to FAO Swartz. We had fun shopping and playing. We stopped for a treat and a seat - for me. Then we made our way through Rockefeller plaza. I really love that place.
I'm in rough shape here end of day, I've on back and meds on other ailments, but I really think the kids had a good day.
I'm glad we came and hope we are creating some memories of a place that David and I really do love for the kids.
Hope you had a great time! How spontaneous you two are - it's great. What fabulous memories these kids will have! The photographs are super. Have a good journey home x x x
