Poor Ellie Bean, even though we got our flu shots, she's managed to come down with the crazy flu. She's been running a fever around 101, 102 for 4 days. This is the first time she's ever had this in her life. She never has a fever. She's coughing like crazy and she's miserable. She's a trooper though. She rarely gets upset and tries to stay positive. Allowing her to watch loads of movies has helped her spirits tremendously.
Last night when we were trying to do her breathing treatments she was having trouble taking the deep breaths without coughing, so she tried to get away with baby breaths. I told her she had to breath deep, even if it meant coughing. It would be okay. She starts crying and says, "But Mommy, when I breath deep, I feel like something is breaking inside!" Poor thing, I just pulled her close and rubbed her back. I felt sad for her, and a little amused by the way she described it. I know it stinks! I feel so bad watching her suffer with these coughs. I still get them too, and I can empathize!
Luckily, this evening, her fever is finally down. I put her to bed without medicine for the first time. Here's hoping for the best!
Unfortunately, starting this morning, Max is running a fever. I'm hoping his doesn't get as bad and the antibiotic he's been on, will help keep his symptoms light. We will see.
Flu Stinks!
